Cantor Position Available
Saint Margaret Parish in Bel Air seeks to add a cantor or two to its roll of cantors. Cantors are considered professional employees and must pass background checks. Cantors must be able to learn music on their own and are expected to arrive 30 minutes before mass to warm up and review with the organist/pianists. Experienced cantors should possess a pleasant singing voice and have the confidence to lead a large assembly. Cantors are paid $60 per mass. Additionally, we are looking for someone to assist with our high school contemporary ensemble which leads music at our mission church at 11 am on Sunday morning. An extra stipend of $25 will be added for that mass if the cantor can help coach the high school vocalists while the director works with the instrumentalists. The ensemble rehearses on Sunday morning before the mass. There are no mid-week rehearsals. The primary resource for that mass is Spirit and Song. All other masses use Gather Comprehensive 2. Other opportunities include funerals which pay $125 and weddings which pay $150. Only cantors currently on staff are allowed to sing for funerals and weddings.
