The Permanent Accompanist is a paid staff employee of the parish. Due to the nature of the position, the accompanist schedules working hours considering the parish liturgy schedule and practice.  Compensation is commensurate with experience.


  1. Works in collaboration with the choir director.
  2. Accompanist has first right of refusal for weddings and funerals as they occur.
  3. Accompanist has the opportunity for additional income playing for Healing Masses and NPM Baltimore Chapter functions.


Experience with Catholic liturgy preferred. Ability to play contemporary and traditional music, required. Sight-reading skills at master level. Proficient transposition skills preferred. Ability to improvise when filler music is needed.

Part Time Director

Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church,  Millersville, MD, seeks an energetic and talented musician to direct and lead our contemporary youth and young adult music ensemble. This person must be proficient on guitar and/or keyboard and in programming  liturgical music that engages parishioners attending the 6pm Sunday Mass.  This person must also assure proper operation of instruments, sound system and associated technology and have familiarity with GIRM, Sing to the Lord and all other Catholic liturgical documents.  Responsibilities include leading the 6 pm mass on Sunday, weekly practice and various events throughout the year.  This position is part-time and the person works directly with the Director of Music.  Contact Karen Froehly at  to submit resumes to and request a complete job description.

Associate Director of Music
The Associate Director of Music at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen will assist the Director of Music in enabling people of the Cathedral parish and school to express and recognize their faith through music. The Associate Director will have primary responsibility for the Contemporary Ensemble and will work with the Director to build a music program for children and youth. This position is a paid 19-hour/week appointment.

Music Intern/Organ Scholar
The internship provides a unique experience for a graduate student or a recently graduated organist/choral conductor to work in a multi-faceted music program before continuing to further studies or leading a program elsewhere. Organ proficiency is expected with skills in playing hymns, accompanying and improvisation.This position is a paid 10-15 hour/week internship for a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

Tenor Section Leader
The Tenor section leader of the Cathedral Choir sings for the Sunday 11am Mass with rehearsals on Thursday evenings from September to June. In addition, the Tenor section leader is expected to sing with the choir for Christmas, Holy Week, and other Holy Day celebrations as scheduled throughout the year. Opportunities to cantor for non-choir Masses, funerals, and weddings are also possible. This position is paid on a stipend basis.
